Rock Climbing

This first post is about an activity that I have picked up lately that I really enjoy.  Rock Climbing.  I’ve always been interested in strength and conditioning, but until recently, I was concerned exclusively with those exercises that were explicitly measurable such as your 1-rep-max. deadlift, or max-rep pull-ups.  Rock Climbing doesn’t have those types of measurables.  It’s a dynamic process that incorporates your whole body.  It’s difficult.  It’s awkward.  And at the end of the day, you don’t get to open up your training log and document exactly how much you accomplished.  Instead, you get to spend an hour learning how to use your body to climb.  You bring consciousness to new movements.  And you leave a better athlete.
